Earth and rock anchors are typically made up of steel bars or strands that are installed and grouted into a drilled hole. The anchors are then put under tension to test them. The anchoring process provides horizontal or vertical resistance strength to a structure and helps ensure that it remains in place. There are many applications for anchors. Typical projects include excavation support, retaining walls, or foundation support. Other uses include slope and wall stabilization, bridge and dam tiebacks and caisson stabilization.
